Celebrating 10 years of filmmaking, the image of three minutes...

In 2001, three minutes The Picture Show was born in Oakland, CA, when Chris Baty, creator of National novel writing month, launched a seemingly simple challenge: spend 30 days on critical creativity and produce a 3 minute film. The reward? View the film projected in front of a live audience at the screening of the Film & Gala "black tie". VHS cassettes poured, people gathered at a warehouse at their most beautiful savings store dress black tie and the results were as varied as they were inspirational.

Queried about what motivated him to create the event, Baty expressed in these words, "through National novel writing months, I have witnessed miraculous creative prowess that can inspire a deadline." I wanted to see if the same within 30 days could motivate, me and my friends, to make films as well. And he did! Watch movies of three minutes each on the night of the first edition of the festival was one of the best and most moving in my life. They were small films, but the process to each of us has helped to see that we were able to more great things. »

Fast forward 2011: three minutes The Picture Show is now a financially sponsored organization that offers some screenings in San Francisco and Portland, Oregon. In 2010 the environmentally friendly family sparkles tasks Film Screening was added to films made by children 6-17-year-old. Although projections now place in the actual movie theatres, and technology has radically changed, the core values remain the same.

By providing an objective, encouragement and a due date, three minutes The Picture Show acts as a catalyst for creative innovation. As explained by the Director of the Camille Verboort program, "we are often asked if the three minutes Picture Show is still relevant, now that anyone can make a short film and put it on YouTube." Simply attend one of our projections and you will know that the answer is a resounding Yes! Not just three minutes The Picture Show offers a gathering place to watch your movie on the big screen with people sharing the same ideas that provide immediate feedback, we provide a time and a month of encouraging emails to stay focused on your project. Each year people tell me "I have never had a film if it were not for the spectacle of photo of three minutes.". That keeps us going. All we want is a light a creative spark under the seat of your pants and celebrate the results with you! »
