Hot new Fantasy brings real issues for Teen readers

Sure Bloodspell Amalie Howard, releasing on June 1, includes witches and sexy vampires, and it certainly is a hypnotic story. But the characters in his new urban fantasy face similar obstacles to deal with these adolescents today - with or without fangs and powers.

Howard, who speaks with the adolescents and their parents on the issues of the image, overcame a four years with anorexia and bulimia battle after losing her best friend at the College. His personal battle helped develop a tale that can relate any young person.

"The characters in"bloodspell"fight issues such as the adjustment while remaining true to themselves, fall in love for the first time, bullying, people lose them and find the strength to fight for what they believe in", said Howard. "Even a paranormal novel has some depth."

Bloodspell, transformed from a short story that Howard wrote years it there has introduced readers to Victoria Warrick, a pariah in high school who learns on his 17th birthday, that it is actually a witch with an unimaginable power - and his blood is literally his enemy. Victoria must fight for his life as friends turn their backs on him and new people in her life are not so easy at the trust, including the dazzling but enigmatic Christian Devereux has a dark secret of his own.

"A history of love in his heart, this book is not lose sight of the fact that the worlds of witches and vampires are bloodthirsty and frightening," said Brad blanks, KQRS Minneapolis entertainment journalist.

A traveller of the world - it was of 141 cities in 18 countries - Howard on some of the vicinity of the book on the sites, it is visited in France and the scene at the United States, including New York and Maine.

Howard grew up on a small island in the Caribbean and return to the United States for college in Maine. She has worked in Los Angeles and Boston before settling outside New York City with her husband - who leaves London to marry - and their three children. At only 13 years old, Howard poem "the candle" was published in a journal from the University of Warwick. She was also a recipient of an award to test Royal Commonwealth Society (a young global writing competition). A writer freelance writer and a member of book authors of the Society of Children and illustrators, Bloodspell is today first novel of Howard.
