Mel Gibson has completed its mandate the Court community service with mending Kids International (MKI), a non-profit organization that provides surgery to save the lives of children in developing countries. Mel spent 56 hours of community service with MKI for three days (6-8 June), clinical journey intensive surgical mission in Guatemala City, with a nine-member team which included Dr. Jorge Lazareff, Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center. While there, Mel visited with patients and their families, helped coordinate the deliveries of humanitarian supplies in three hospitals with and attended a neurological clinic of children with disabilities. "With the other volunteers on the mission, Mel himself involved in all aspects of the trip, always fully committed with children and volunteer colleagues." It was a privilege to have his help in the planning of the mission and have him join us for this important journey. He was obviously very touched by the children at the Guatemala, who are in need of specialized surgeries; We are extremely grateful for his contribution to the mending Kids International. Robyn Gibson is currently the co-Chair of the Guild of Malibu MKI, which raises money for children on the waiting list for MKI.
