Emerging artist New Zealand, Rosanne Croucher, receives award of Art Cliftons, yesterday evening from among more than 450 international entries submitted by more than 250 artists located across the Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore, for his book entitled "inflection".
Conference centre and event facilities provider Cliftons invites emerging artists from ten cities to present original works of art for its fifth Art Prize competition. The winners of each city were awarded AUS $2,000 (NZ $2,500), while the first place has received an overall price of AUS $10 000 (NZ $12 800).
Independent judges of the competition included Tim Abdullah, head of Art at Menzies, Justin Morgan Jade, Director of the Academy of fine arts New Zealand and Australian artist and engraver, David Bromley.
Ms. Croucher, who is currently completing her last year in a Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts at Unitec in Auckland was filled with joy to the press that she had won.
"This is my first major accolade of Art Prize, and I am grateful for the opportunity they gave me to Cliftons." "The price will certainly go a long way to support my artistic efforts in the future, including overseas travel that will allow me to view more", says Ms. Croucher.
Cliftons owner, Andrew Cameron, is passionate about the arts and sees the current competition as a tangible way to support emerging artists of the region, as well as to enhance the visual experience on the sites of the Cliftons training, which had been turned into a beaux-arts style parameter. The evening of the awards provided an opportunity for corporate clients of the Cliftons to meet and to support local artists by purchasing their works of art.
"We are very targeted environments visually stimulating for our events facilities and provision of training," says Cameron. "Supporting the arts is another evidence of our commitment to Visual excellence." "We are proud to participate with young and new artists through our local communities".
"Inflection" will be a permanent part of the Cliftons art collection, which includes works of art of previous winners at many of its sites.
This is not the first time, Ms. Croucher has exhibited his work. She participated in group exhibitions in Bungalow 6 Unitec 2010, mindscapes to 2010 World of coffee and hard to reach places to Murrays Bay Arts Centre 2011.
Explaining her work, Ms. Croucher said: "my practice is based on several interests and influences." It is the relationship between man and nature, expressing psychological "inscapes" through Imaging landscape, exploring the relationship between realism and abstraction with paint and to study oriental treatment of space by the removal of a ground fixed.
"'Inflection' represents the changing nature and temporary our own memories and dreams, and our perceptions of the world where we live." Quality derives the work stresses the need of flexibility and belief in the way which we approach life - some things need to be held to, others must be let go. »
