Students at Pasadena Bar Association Awards two Local High School...

Pasadena Bar Association held a tournament of scholarships of the speech on the day of the law. The competition took place in the Hall of gold at the Pasadena Convention Center, where the Association du Barreau Pasadena awarded two pupils of secondary school with scholarships. The two finalists were honour student Joelle Cheng, junior, Maranatha High School and Stanford-bound David Lam, senior high school in San Gabriel. Cheng received the winner of a scholarship of $5,000, as Lam received honours finalist and a $2,000 scholarship.

Cheng and Lam, won the opportunity to compete at the Pasadena Bar Association Law day and talk about 150 of judges and lawyers, the speakers of the two first to April being appointed in last of the preliminary round. About 50 students representing local high schools, applications to participate in the tournament of speech. Each competitor student presented a seven minute speech, choose from a list of three selected themes, including technology of the 21st century, Internet Privacy or freedom of expression.

On the two finalists, Vice President of the Pasadena Bar Association, Donald P. Schweitzer said: "we couldn't be happier with the performance of the two finalists". Joelle and David is passed from time to time and really improved their speech when they spoke during the preliminary rounds in April.

Pasadena Bar Association organizes this event since last summer with the expectations that the association may have a positive impact on the local high school students and their ability to speak in public.

"By holding this event a bar Pasadena something special for competitors and our Community Association made some," said Schweitzer.

Pasadena Bar Association helps its members to develop and improve their practice of law by providing information, services, networking, professional development and other resources programmes. The PBA has launched many programs, services and opportunities for its members, the profession, the judiciary and the community.
