In response to the crises caused by tornadoes and floods in the South, the foundation of Pet announced Halo $70,000 in allocations of emergency disaster to eight animal welfare organizations, serving communities in need.
Recipients of grants are desire to Noah, who helps animals in disasters at the national level, save our pets and SOS Club in Georgia Food Bank. Arkansans for animals in Arkansas; Animal sanctuary Blount County Animal shelter and the Second Chance in Alabama; Paws, claws ' n more rescue in Kentucky; and McKamey Animal Center in Tennessee.
Funds for these grants of emergency have been raised at the third PETCO Foundation Annual Gala, where Ms. DeGeneres received the first annual hope of Foundation Award. Dozens of articles were put up for auction at the gala to support the work of the Foundation Halo Pet. There is also a special appeal to provide timely support to the victims of recent disasters, which led to these grants four-legged.
"We are delighted to support these community leaders offering for animals and people still in need after these disasters," said the Chairman of Halo and member of the Foundation Board for the Pet Halo Steve Marton. "We are very grateful for the support of our friends at the PETCO Foundation, many donors and our own Ellen DeGeneres, who is indefatigable lend its voice and support to animals in need."
Also, partner non-profit Halo Freekibble.com donated hundreds of thousands of meals for shelters Halo Spot stew, rescues and food banks in the region, of which three of these grant recipients. According to the founder of Freekibble age of 15 years, Mimi Ausland, "it's so amazing be able to help people and pets in the South which were poorly after storms." It makes me very happy to know that the foundation of Pet Halo is now send money to these impressive groups... they incredible work and need all the help they can get! "Last month, Freekibble has raised more than 2 million pieces of Halo cakes in 24 hours in support of the disaster relief effort in the Southeast. And earlier this month, another 2 million pieces of Halo Spot stew was raised for animal relief in Joplin, Missouri.
