Jobbie Nooner revellers will be witness of the acrobatic abilities of eight Professional paratroopers during the unique competition, air, Red Bull Motown Swoop. These skilled adventurers will compete for the most "hit" with a parachute after individually fall from an airplane. The competition will take place on Friday 24 June 12-15 h, in collaboration with Jobbie Nooner and will be visible from Gull Island.
"The rating criteria are simple," explained the creator contest Red Bull, Jon Devore and athlete. "The idea of Red Bull Motown Swoop is to remove the technical aspects of the"normal"competition and simply determine the event on pure impression…it all to put on the best show.".
Skydiving expertise is not necessary for the Red Bull Motown Swoop competition so a local Special Panel has been formed to take a decision which "hit" is the best. The non-parachutistes who will have their say in who wins includes Jason Krause, player guitar to Kid Rock, Detroit Hush Carlisle hip-hop artist and singer of Matthew "Myron" the Dirty Americans Kozuch.
Participants come from around the world and have been selected by the Red Bull Air Force to compete. The list of athletes includes Jay Moledzki, Pablo Hernandez, TJ Landgren, Matt Lewis, Travis Fienhage, Marat Leiras and members of the Red Bull Air Force Jeff Provenazano and Clint Clawson.
FREE FALLIN'
The athletes will be jumping out of a plane, one by one, between noon and 3: 30 p.m. Friday. Each competitor will be in free fall to 10-20 seconds after the aircraft of 4,000 ft above Gull Island. The athletes will be hook-turn their parachutes about 800 feet above the water at speeds reaching 70 mph before hitting the ground. Using their speed to "bitten" around 50 "x 300" course, while execution of freestyle moves such as "blindman," "miracleman", "lazyboy", "ghost rider," "method", "switchblade" and other. If they want better impress the judges, they can try to land on the small raft to be located at the end of course.
RED BULL MOTOWN HIT MEETS JOBBIE NOONER
The competition takes place in the Jobbie Nooner at Gull Island on Lake St. Clair (45 minutes from Detroit). Jobbie Nooner is a tradition annual Detroit that represents a day where the "Jobbie" (auto workers) would be ditch work and party on their boats. While Red Bull Motown Swoop takes place on 12-3, the party happen throughout the day from sunrise to the sunset.
